Markhors are easily recognizable by their:

Robust build: Adults weigh between 32 to 110 kg.

Diet and Behavior
These herbivorous animals graze on grass, leaves, and shrubs. Markhors are crepuscular, most active during dawn and dusk. Known for their agility, they navigate steep slopes effortlessly to evade predators like snow leopards, wolves, and lynxes.
Conservation Status
Once critically endangered, Markhor populations have rebounded due to stringent conservation efforts. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) now classifies the species as Near Threatened. Pakistan’s government, alongside organizations like WWF-Pakistan, has implemented community-based trophy hunting programs.
